In my last post, I’d pointed out the importance of a local community and described how Delhi NCR useR group came about. It’s been a month since we’d started the group and I’m excited to announce that our first meetup is scheduled to take place on 14th July 2018, i.e. upcoming Saturday. Venue for the event is SocialCops headquarters in Saket, New Delhi. As a budding community, support from established organizations is a big boost, and we’re grateful to SocialCops for coming onboard as mentors and venue partners.
Event details can be found on meetup and you can RSVP here .
In addition to providing an opportunity to interact with fellow community members, the meetup will also feature sessions by members from the R community. For this meetup, we’ve sessions from two exciting speakers lined up.
Our first session would be an AMA (Ask Me Anything) with Prof. Deepayan Sarkar of Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi. He’s one of 20 R-core members and author of the lattice package.
Our second session would be on “Satellite image classification in R” by Shilpa Arora of SocialCops. She’s an experienced data scientist who has worked on problems from various domains in the industry, including GIS and image classification.
If you’re in the region, attend the event by registering on the meetup page or here.
We’re a community in its infancy and could use all the help we can get. If you know of someone who may be interested in speaking at the upcoming event or in the future, please let us know via mail, Twitter, Facebook or Meetup.
Also, please share and retweet our event and/or this blog. We would be grateful.
Thanks for being an amazing community and have a great day, #rstats!
